Emeritus Professor Akhtar Kalam is a founding member of MCCA since 1989 and an Independent Director since 2009. Professor Kalam is an established author, academic, and expert in Islamic finance with a strong record of leading boards of directors and multi-disciplinary leadership teams.
Professor Kalam is the Academic Director of Texila College Australia, Melbourne, and Emeritus Professor at Victoria University. He is a graduate from the Universities of Bath (UK), Oklahoma (US), and Aligarh (India) in Electrical Engineering. He is a Fellow and member of the Institute of Engineers (Australia, UK & US). He is the author of many books, publications, articles, and papers in his 45-year academic career. He has been Chairman of MCCA since 2005, Director since 2002, and a founding member of MCCA (1989). Professor Kalam has been an Independent Director of MCCAAM since March 2009.
